Scalo Cavallo: the cove in short

Scalo Cavallo is a point on the eastern coast of Favignana whose name recalls its historic role as a small landing place, used for mooring and for moving people or goods along an otherwise rocky, harbourless shoreline.

Today the area is low, complex coast, with calcarenite rock sloping into the water. It is not an equipped beach: there are no extensive sandy shores, bathing structures, refreshment points, natural shade or rescue facilities. It is a place that keeps a plain, secluded character compared with the island''s more visited spots.

Entry into the water is over stone and requires suitable footwear and sure footing; surfaces can be slippery and uneven. Anyone stopping here must be entirely self-sufficient, with enough water, sun protection and personal equipment, carrying all rubbish out.

The sea is part of the Egadi Islands Marine Protected Area: rules on navigation, mooring, fishing and diving should be consulted through official channels before planning boat trips.

Available sources still disagree about this stretch''s wind exposure: this page therefore gives no indication of favourable or unfavourable winds and refers you to checking sea conditions directly on the day of your visit. The coordinates in our records are currently only approximate, which is why no detailed route directions are provided: the aim is to avoid unconfirmed information about a stretch of coast with no assistance.
